13 week old waking earlier formula fed

Hi,

I’m looking for some advice! My baby is 14 weeks this Thursday, weighs 16lb. He has started to wake earlier through the night. We currently do 5 x 7oz bottles in 24 hours. Takes anything between 5oz and 7oz. He feeds roughly every 4/5hours. Times of fed depend on when he wakes in the morning. His last bottle is always given just before he gets put down for the night, even if it shortens the time between his last feed.

He had been sleeping until 4am sometimes 4.30am, now we are back to 2.30am-3am. Usually takes at least 6oz during night feed. I would like to try and drop this feed if possible. Should I feed him more in the day? Any advice on how to get our 4am wakening back?

Thanks!

Firstly it's entirely normal to feed a baby, especially one so young, in the night.

He is getting less than the recommended amount though. He should be having 2.5 floz for every lb in weight which equates to 40 floz a day.

Could you try upping the bottles to 8 floz and feeding every 4 hours in the day? Have you tried changing the teat to a fast flow one as well?
