Hi, I am going to be having a week course when baby is 4 months old, and then returning to work when he is 6 months.
I am trying to build a stash of milk but need to know how much minimum to have, Google says babies take 4-6oz, 5-6 times per day, however my baby feeds a lot more than that on me, and I can't see him taking 4oz (he may be a snacker)
So do I say have minimum 36oz in 2 Oz bags to see how it goes? I only express 1oz at a time so I'll start doing 1oz a day on a morning so I should have a decent amount, but I'm very worried my DH will run out of milk while I am not here.
DS does take a bottle, but hasn't yet done a full feed (he takes 1oz then comes to me, as he is only 10 weeks old and I don't want him to relay on the bottle)

At 4 months a BF baby will typically take 25 floz in 24 hours. You'll also be lucky to get them to drink 6floz in one go. They take roughly 1 floz per hour so if your baby feeds every 2 hours, which isn't unusual at 4 months, they're unlikely to drink more than 2 floz.

By 9 months both of mine had Cow'w milk in daycare and were BF the rest of the time. This is fine as long as it's not the main drink. So you might not need to pump at all by 9/10 months.

Kellymom has some useful resources on pumping and how much they need here Wink
