Gaining weight but dropping on the growth chart

My baby was born at 31 weeks due to severe preeclampsia due to this my baby had IUGR and was born at 2.5 lbs but dropped down to 2.2lbs they was unsure if they measured her birth weight properly.

We have gained weight very nicely and have gained between 100-300 grams every week.

We are 5 weeks corrected and weigh 7.9 lbs.

We have managed to get to fortnightly weigh ins two weeks ago we was 7lbs so almost a pound gained in two weeks which I thought was absolutely amazing but apparently we have dropped from 9th percentile to the 2nd?! They was concerned enough to think about weekly weigh ins again.

Before my preeclampsia was picked up we picked up her slow growth and she was measuring about 2-3 weeks behind and when she was born I remember a nurse saying she was about the size of a 26 week old. Her legs always measured very small and now for her length she has made her own line.

They told me today her weight gain has dropped and they need to monitor it but then told me they wouldn’t want her weight on the chart because then she’d basically be too wide for her length?! So they told me it’s not enough weight gain but then don’t want her too wide?!

I also don’t think it’s fair to put a preemie baby in a database with normal size babies.

My baby has reflux but is on gaviscon and managing well we are drinking 3 ounces every 3 hours and she is on nutriprem.

This has really made me paranoid I can see my baby is growing so well but people are constantly telling me how small she is and what I was told
today I feel is really contradicting and I feel doesn’t add up to how well I think she is doing.

Really sorry that you've had such a difficult start and that you're now receiving contradictory information.

Just wondered if you've found the Premature Birth Section yet? The posters in there might be able to better advise you in monitoring weight gain Flowers
