CMPA advice needed

My 7 week old dd has been prescribed Nutramigen for suspected CMPA. Symptoms included a rash on her face and neck, mucus nappies and lots of pain symptoms and crying after a feed.

Started on Nutramigen 3 days ago and haven't noticed too much change but now the rash has spread to her head. What's going on? I thought this was meant to improve symptoms not make them worse. How long do I give it before going back to the GP?

Hey, OP, that sounds really tough. For a rash in an infant I'd seek medical advice quite quickly, to be honest. Can you call NHS 24?

We are due to see GP again tomorrow, it's definitely an allergy rash and it seems to come and go. I just thought the new milk might clear it up but apparently it can take some time.

Ah, okay. Good thing you're going to see the GP.

Hey OP what happened with the rash, is baby ok? I'm experiencing similar I've been combi feeding due to being unwell and low supply. The rash seems to have got worse!!! I'm at my wits end. I'm trying to eat diary free and introduced soya or goats milk but can't get her to take either. As she's unwell she will only take breast 🤦🏻‍♀️

My little one, 9 weeks, also been diagnosed with cmpa. It took 2 weeks for the rash to go. Also discovered an egg allergy so not sure which of the two caused the rash. It could also be that the formula still has allergens present for your baby and you need a different dairy free formula as there are lots of different ones.

Lots of babies allergic to dairy are also allergic to soya... Worth cutting that out too to see if it may help?

As predicted, the advice was to wait at least two weeks before changing milks as it can take this long before we start to see improvements. Babies nappies look more normal but she still cries and the rash comes and goes so I'm not sure what to think. I guess we will just need to revisit it in a couple of weeks

Hi

I am in a similar situation, just wondering if your baby's symptoms and rash improved?
