Expressing advice and tips needed

Hi

I've just started expressing some milk for ds to take from a bottle but I've got myself a bit confused (easily done these days )

Do I express for a certain amount of time each time I pump or do I keep going until there's no milk cominbg out? Also, what do I do if no milk comes out at all? Do I keep going or stop?

Any advice and tips gratefully received.
Thanks

Keep going until theres no more milk coming out, and then another few minutes. Hand expressing at the end helps get it all out.
If no milk comes out to begin with, keep going - I find it can take up to 3 minutes of pumping before I have a let down.

Thanks for that. I'll leave it a bit longer before deciding there's no milk and keep going until the milk stops.

not sure when you are doing it - i found it best to express at the same time as feeding (baby on one side, pump on the other). i found it hard to start with and used to freeze whatever little i got and make up feed sizes later, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the messages. I had some success expressing and feeding at the same time this morning. I'll keep going in future to see if I get a second burst. I have found that repositioning the pump when the flow stops sometimes helps.
