Breastfeeding makes me so hungry

My DC is almost 1, I thought he’d have dropped feeds by now but he really hasn’t. He has a feed in the morning, 3 bottles of expressed milk at nursery, a feed before bed and one feed during the night.

I still so so hungry all of the time! The amount I need to eat and the frequency of it is just absurd. Yet I weigh a bit less than I did pre pregnancy (this has happened on its own though I’m probably more active now) and on the days where I don’t eat as much it impacts my supply and I struggle to pump as much as he needs.

Has anyone else experienced this with an older baby? I’m worried about what’ll happen when we stop if I’ll still be hungry all the time.

I was exactly the same with my LO I fully fed him till he was 2 then night feeds only till 3.
My appetite just went down as he slowed down feeding ...
I actually ate better as couldn't face Chocolate when I stopped (I ate ALOT, everyday while feeding)

I can't tell you about stopping bf, as I'm bf my first, but I can sympathise with you about the hunger.

I am ravenous all of the time! I tracked my eating on myfitnesspal one day out of curiosity and I racked up about 3000 calories. Pre-pregnancy I used to eat about 1500 per day. It's crazy!

Mine is almost one and still feeds several times a day and at least three times overnight...my appetite is still huge! I also weigh less. It's crazy isn't it!

Glad I’m not the only one!! I dread to think how many calories I get through, definitely notice it in our food bill aswell 🙈
