Should a 5 week old be pooping? Dd hasn't had a dirty nappy for about 36 hours and is showing signs of stomach ache. I thought at this age they should be going at least once a day. I can't get hold of the health visitor and am wondering how long I should leave it before I worry...

Anything from several times a day to once every 3 days is normal.
Try the bicycle motion with your baby's legs. And also look up baby massage u can gentky rub your babies tummy.
Also try an oz of cooled boiled water it always helps my baby with constipation. I wouldn't give any more than an oz though

Yes, what milk they're on could make a difference.

Breastfed babies can go through a stage of not pooping for a few days because they get good at digesting the milk and there’s not much waste produced.

We are using Aptamil and she has roughly 2-3oz every 2-3 hours

My LO only goes every 5-6 days and hes formula fed. Been like it since 5 weeks and hes now 11 weeks. Checked with the doctor at our 6 week check & he wasnt worried at all. Said babies are different and he will
get into his own routine. As long as hes not in pain (constapated) then not to worry.

If your LO does seem in pain, might be worth speaking to your doctor as they might be able to give you something to help otherwise doing bicycle legs & tummy massage might help.
