Goats milk formula?

Currently combi feeding my newborn, she is struggling to latch so I am expressing around 3 bottles a day of breast milk for her, the rest she has kendamil - she seems to be quite gassy and uncomfortable sometimes for hours on end so we are going to try goat milk formula we think and just wondered what experiences people have had with it and switching to it etc ? :)

I haven’t used it, but researched it because my DS had reflux and was very uncomfortable. We didn’t try it in the end because it turned out DS had cows milk allergy, and goats milk isn’t suitable for cows milk allergy.

Have you tried using infacol or dentinox? Helps with burping after feeds.

If you suspect CMPA go to the doctors and get a referral to a paediatric dietician. They can prescribe the hypoallergenic formula and then it's free.

Have you had any support with the latch? Worth speaking to NCT feeding support/ la leche league or using nipple shields to see if you can sort that out.

Is there a pattern? Is it only after formula feeds she uncomfortable?

We have tried infacol sometimes it seems to help sometimes not - spoke to the midwife today at her 10 day and she was more of the opinion it was because I was combi feeding rather than the formula she’s on, but I’m just not producing enough for her to be on only that so definitely need to look into more formula options - will keep in mind about the allergy though Thankyou!

I’m unsure on the allergy front as the midwife didn’t really mention it and said it was probably due to to combi feeding - have had lots of support but she just isn’t taking too it and finds it really frustrating which then puts her off her bottle feeds -it’s hard to said there’s a pattern tbh it seems to be just be random at the minute - I have thought about nipple shields so will definitely look into them further! I Thankyou!

If there's no pattern it's likely just her age and getting used to bottles and feeding in general.

No need to change any formula or anything at this point.

Look into nipple shields, they can save a feeding journey.

Also make sure you're expressing when she has a formula feed. At this age breastfeeding is all about establishing supply. Baby will feed little and often and cluster feed. It's all about getting your supply to match their need. Also know that what you express is no indication of how much milk you have. Even the best pump is no match for baby.

@Clauren13 just seeing if you did end moving to goats formula and if it made a difference?
