bottle feeding whilst on there back??!!

ok i posted this in the nursery- part of the pavlova of gettign back to work and getting ds off the boob....now i have enlisted his future nursery so went for a couple of settling in days. they are trying the bottle...but when i looked thru the door he was flat on his back on play mat, rollign his head around lookign at toys whilst a bottle was being held in his mouth tryign to take some.....added to this his baby grow was soaked, they didnt show me the bib and they said he had taken 4 oz ( when we got home he fed +++ boob- i don't think he really took that much, i think they were trying to make me feel better?!)

so what the heck...thats not right is it- feeding on the flat?!

My ds1 would only be fed flat on his back. He hated being held. He always had have is arms free. My inlaws used to get all upset that I fed him flat on his back, but after they tried to hold him and failed, they realized that he is just an odd child.

That being said it sounds like they just weren't taking care of him.

Does he take the bottle easily?

Perhaps ask them why he was fed that way.

It may have been that he would not feed while been held as did not really no the person feeding him.

With one of my charges I had to feed him in car seat, on floor, in pram, in bouncy chair until he started to drink bottle and then move slowly until he got used to me holding him.

Bring it up with them so they can offer explanation.

sensible nannynz, my other reaction was to run around like a headless chicken and find another nursery...will talk to them on monday.

How old is he ? Had success with ds being in car seta rather than held, not flat on back thoguh (isn't it a choking hazard ). Not uncommon to be more enthusiatsic about b'feeding when available.
