DD is 9 days old abd breastfed. Today she hasnt settled lng between feeds at all today. Seems unsettled and going on boob almost constantly.

both boobs have felt soft all day

remind me what i KNOW and its not because my supply is inadequate

also can you confirm that not managing to eat much and getting very thirsty shouldnt reduce milk supply?

its amazing how you forget everything!!

Hi Pecka...

Here is what you know already, but need reminding of:
It may very well be a growth spurt and your supply will soon catch up. If it isn't, it may also be your baby settling into a routine and finding her rhythm. She may also be a slow feeder, and just be taking her time.

My DS is 3 months and still has days like this. It's the nature of the beast. BF is a wonder of nature but also extremely tough as you can't see how much they're getting and if they're on all day it can be very tiring.

If you're not eating much it'll make you feel very weak, I expect, but from what I understand your body will be doing all it can to give your child what she needs- it'll go to the milk first. But still, try and eat and definitely drink more water than you've ever done before in your life as it'll do you both good. It's a mentally and physically exhausting time and you need all the help you can get.

How are her nappies?!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 12/01/2008 20:29

Nappies are doing what they should.

Plenty wet and 3-4 orangey/mustard poo too!

She has been back on again lots since I posted, I can chill about it mostly but its very difficult when one of my other two children need me for something.

Its all a rollercoaster this new motherhood lark, you would think I would remember!?

These things aree asy to forget! 2 months ago I was swearing I would never be pregnant/ give birth again, then yesterday I saw some very cute new borns and started planning my next LO! .

Glad things have improved... a happy nappy is a happy baby, don't you know!!!

Pecka - I 'think' it is. I seem to remember one of my mw's saying it is, but then again when I mentioned it to another mw she seemed to have a puzzled look on her face.

DD3 is 8 weeks now and I'm still sweating about whether she's getting what she needs. Judgin by the fact that she's clearly growing and keep my washing machine busy with mustard nappies I should chill but you don't do you?

...a lifetime of worry begins.
