Left breast no longer working

My DD has always favoured my right breast and now my left breast doesn't seem to be producing much milk at all. I express off it and only get about 1 ice cubes worth of milk, DD also gets frustrated when I put her to that breast too.

Can I get my left breast working again? I know I can feed from just the 1 breast but would like to use both if at all possible.

You need to feed her more from the left I'm afraid. Things will improve but it may take a few days. Start off on that side for a few days.

Thanks-will do that. Was getting a bit worried

my dd has never fed from my left breast and i couln't express from it either, it therefore dried up and she appears to get everything she needs from my right breast, gaining weight and is happy....most of the time!!

I had this with DS1, for about a month he seemed very disatisfied (I had fed his sister prior to him for longer)pulled and tugged it was like there was nothing there. I'm afraid for me it was the beginning of the end
but .... his little brother doesnt seem to have had that problem. Maybe I'm just odd

This happened with all three of my babies, as I tended to feed more on the left. YOu just need to persavere, and feed as om the less productive side. Having said that, I didn't and mostly ended up feeding form one side when they were 6 months +.

If baby has a favourite side, you should always start a feed from the other. Don't worry about how much you can express, a baby can get a hell of a lot more milk out than a pump. Try feeding from the left first and offering that breast more often than you would usually ie hourly for a day or two, should only take that long.
