Baby Gaviscon - what bottles/teats did you use?

Our son (6Weeks) had just been given baby gaviscon for reflux.

I tried him on 3 bottles and he couldn’t get any milk out.
MAM - size 1 & Size 0 teat
Nuk 0-3 month teat
Tommee tipeee - size 1 teat.

what bottles worked best for your baby to get the milk out? Our son is only 6lb at 6 weeks so wonder if that has an impact?

My daughter took baby gaviscon from a spoon could you try that? There are also little dummy type medicine pots you can get or could you try a syringe?

@DoodleBelle oh really? How did you make it up! Did you give it before or after feed?

I used Nuk bottles with the teat that came with it (0-6 months medium).. never had an issue. But be aware with Nuk, if you screw the lid too tight, they won’t be able to get any milk out (made that mistake plenty when DD was a newborn!).

In a calpol syringe or other 5ml syringe works really well. Are you bottle feeding anyway or breastfeeding? If bottle feeding, a size 2 teat or those variflow ones that have an x shaped hole might work, if breastfeeding stick to syringes or spoons. Trust me I've been there! Good luck xx

I used cooled boiled water and made it up in a little egg cup then just slowly spoon fed her it. I gave it to her about 5/10 mins before feeding and breastfed.

Unfortunately it didn’t help my little one she ended up constipated and had a painful hard tummy but we’ve since moved on to omeprazole which seems to be making a difference! Would also recommend probiotic drops to help tummy issues, we use Optibac. Hope you get on ok with it, it’s very difficult watching them struggling😣

We used MAM and a size 2 teat, my baby was prescribed gaviscon around 4/5 weeks if I remember correctly. You shouldn't need to go any bigger than that. We also tried carobel which is much thicker and needed a size 3 for that but she didn't get on well with the carobel.

Also, not sure your son is formula fed or you're expressing but if using formula, Kendamil was a game changer for us in helping dd's reflux.

We use Dr Browns bottles with size 1 teats. Not as aesthetically pleasing as the MAM bottles but the best we’ve tried for reducing air intake and our baby seems to be able to get the formula out well, even when we had to move up to 2 sachets of gaviscon per feed.
We’ve now moved on to size 2 teats (still with gaviscon) as he’s nearly 3 months old and find that’s a little too big but better than size 1 for his age as he was finding it tiring to suck.
