Breast Milk & Formula Mixing - Advice Please

I am still struggling to express enough milk to satisfy DS, and once a day he is talking 100ml of formula to top him up.

Does this reduce the goodness of BM, or does he still get the benefit of me BF.

I am trying to increase the amount I am expressing, but tonight for instance he has taken 200ml (100ml EBM and 100ml formula) in addition to a little breast feeding he took before the bottle. He is 5 weeks.

Advice please.

are you feeding directly at breast? Are there problems?

Mixed feeding does interfere with someof the benefits iof bf - the main ones, I think, being allergy protection and loss of the 'virgin gut'.

Giving FF will, at this stage, interfere with your supply.

How oftrn/long ae you expressing?

I have not been able to get him latched for any length of time - have had NCT BF advisor out, and various staff at the hospital tried as well. I have flat nipples - so using a nipple guard.

I am expressing about 3 times per day. He gets frustrated at night, so we bottle feed him as this seems to calm him down.

I am also taking Goats Rue now to try and increase my milk supply.
