I am going back to work in April when DS will be just over 11 months. At the moment he is still breastfeeding morning and night, definitely, and maybe 3 more times through the day, but more often than not I offer before he asks. He's already cut down, until about 6 months he was feeding every 2 hours through the day!
I'm hoping to still bf morning and night. He'll be at nursery or with mum during the day, and I will be off 3 days a week. So:
- Do I need to express or give formula for the days when he won't be with me? Or can I give him cow's milk? If formula or cow's milk, should I start giving him it a week in advance to make sure he likes it? (Have been giving cow's milk in porridge etc for about a month so I know he's not allergic to it)
- Should I still bf him on the days I'm off, or give him milk in a cup so he's not confused?
- Will I be really engorged or will it quickly sort itself out?
I know this is a few months away and loads could have changed by then but I just want to start thinking about it now. Am keen to hear experiences from anyone who has been in a similar position.
