How amazing.
I wish i could have done that.
Have hopeless control.

BurpyErnie · 09/01/2008 00:14

Can you sell the excess like a wet mother used to? I could be making a killing with my excess milk... will ebay take it?

moondog · 09/01/2008 00:24

Fantastic. Have you thought of donating to a milk bank?
A girl on here used to make soap with her excess milk.

BurpyErnie · 09/01/2008 00:27

Milk bank What's that? If I can get the happy hormones again I'll donate all day! Will I get paid?

moondog · 09/01/2008 00:30

You don't get paid but you get to know that you are doing a wonderful thing for poorly/needy babies across the UK.

not surprised, I am not a leaker but thinking of feeding makes them go all tingly. I also notice when i get a letdown, I can watch my nipple extend out so I suspect the same thing happens when I get the tingle - though I have never bothered to look.

BurpyErnie · 09/01/2008 00:35

Bloody Typical they don't do Wales! Who gets it is it like the blood donation (I do that I well when I'm an anemic) I seem to remamber my bf support lady mentioning this I'll have look her up.

moondog · 09/01/2008 00:37

Where are you Burby?
I'm in North Wales. They sand taxis to get the milk from Chester to here (a good 50/60 miles)

BurpyErnie · 09/01/2008 00:39

Cardiff I'm afraid moondog

moondog · 09/01/2008 00:43

Oxford?
Brum?

Worth e mailing to try if you are willling.

BurpyErnie · 09/01/2008 00:49

Do I have to do there? Chester closer but still difficult with the kids and I can't drive. I have a big freezer though if that helps. Will emial the link you sent thanks for that and I'll pop in to my bf support group on friday to see if they know anything

Can you donate milk moondog even when your baby is more than 6 months old? i thought there was a limit on it? I would love to do it, DD stopped feeding a week ago but I still have milk.

robinredbreast · 09/01/2008 17:03

moondog ive thought of donating too,but is there a minimum amount you need to express?
and can you donate past 6 months?

Check the link out ladies.
Im not too sure myself.

suzi2 · 10/01/2008 22:48

It happens to me a lot (though I don't leak I can feel it) and I use that to my advantage when feeding DD or expressing. I take a big deep breath in, and think of the milk flowing and all being right with the world. and it all happens.

No idea what happens post bf though - I was pg with DD before I stopped with DS so I'd still get a letdown every time a baby somewhere cried.

jorange5 · 15/01/2008 19:02

To robinredbreast and moondog - I emailed the Countess of Chester about this the other day and they have a policy of not collecting milk from mothers with babies over 12 months old. They will travel all over north wales to collect it though and it goes to the local hospitals (the C of C just co-ordinates it).

specialmagiclady · 15/01/2008 21:55

Yeah, happens to me all the time. Think about my baby and splash. (Actually, much calmer now he's 9 months old. But with DS1 was AWFUL. Couldn't think about him at all while leaning forwards!)
