Pain relief when BF

peacemakeruk · 04/01/2008 17:23

Can anyone tell me if I can take anything other than paracetamol for AF pain while BF. This is only my 2nd AF since having my DD 8 months ago and I'm in alot of pain which paracetamol isn't helping with.

Thanks

Ibuprofen is ok when bf.

I took ibruprofen, in the lowest dose, while bfing. I tried to take it directly after bfing, to minimize the amount that went into the milk.

great, thanks guys. I can't remember why but I thought you couldn't take ibruprofen while BF.

I think it will say on the box not to, or to consult a dr, but it is recommended for mastitis!

belgo · 04/01/2008 17:38

that's when I used it - for mastitis, and also for after contractions. But my gp told me not to.

I've been told ibuprofen is not ok by my mw, but diclofenac is?

hunkermunker · 04/01/2008 18:45

Ibuprofen's fine. Your midwife's wrong, BT.

You can all see why I was confused can't you The link you sent hunkermunker seems pretty conclusive. Thanks everyone.
