Really sore on one side

I'm EBF my 5 months old. Yesterday she was a bit off her food so my left breast got a little engorged/mis-shapen. At night it started to hurt to lie on so when she woke I made sure to let her feed on that side and she did a good job at draining it, I couldn't feel any remaining lumps.

But today the pain is still there and getting a little worse. I fed her from that side a fair bit today too to make sure there wasn't a blocked duct but now it's made the problem worse as supply has increased even more due to the increased demand. It is spraying milk everywhere and she gets overwhelmed and upset.

What should I do? Let her feed on the sore side or not?

What could be causing the pain and how to fix it? Even when empty there is a spot that is always sore. I've tried massaging it while feeding too but it hasn't helped.

Thanks!

See your GP. I didn't, and ended up in hospital under emergency GA having an abscess drained because I waited until the pain got so bad before I saw my GP.

That sounds painful @Justkeeppedaling :(

It feels a lot softer today after a lot of feeding but it still hurts, a bruise sort of pain. It sometimes throbs and is worse when I lean forward. Very odd! Call to the GP in the morning I think.

I had a crazy oversupply on that side yesterday and really couldn't figure out why. Even after she'd taken a huge feed it kept spraying everywhere and I found myself Googling how to reduce supply. Very odd! I BF my first for a year and never had anything like this even when his appetite fluctuated.
