I am hoping to start exercising again. Will it have any impact on my milk at all? Sorry if this is a stupid question - I am clueless.

Not a stupid question at all, but I'm afraid I don't have the answer.
My guess is your supply will be fine.
Anyone?

Your supply will be fine as long as you eat enough and get some rest between sessions. But a bloody good bra though, otherwise you'll get sore norks. The Shock Impact ones are good IME.

I started horse riding again whilst bf and got the biggest, thickest sports bra Bravissimo sold. I was like body armour but the boobies stayed put .

it will be fine. i started swimming again at about 10w no probs.

I am back running. Not as much as I would like, but am getting out the odd time.

I started back around 3 months. I haven't noticed any impact on supply (although I am not running everyday).

I try to run after I feed so norks are lighter(!). I would agree though that you need to eat and rest though. And I wear 2 bras. The strongest shock absorber AND a crop top over!

I have only run into problems with bf and exercising when I really pushed it with the exercising. Normal running or swimming or whatever is fine.

I only had a problem when, 6 months postnatal, I did a two-day rock-climbing course, while in dreadful shape. I was in agony for a few days, and I think my milk was bad tasting.

Eating and resting are fine, for your sake. They won't have any impact on your breastmilk supply, or your baby, and both will be fine however much you exercise.

Trimum2 · 02/01/2008 13:05

I should add... that it has made me feel very happy to be back out again running. even if I eat mountains of chocolate to offset any physical benefit . mentally, it has been a great thing.

Any links to good bras?

Shock absorber bras, by Berlei, are very good.

I don't think exercise generally does anything to your milk, and my rock-climbing course didn't do any harm to my baby or my breastfeeding. He did just reject the boob a bit on the days I'd done it, and seemed a bit unsettled.

(But it was an insane amount of exercise, like two six-hour days of really hard exercise that I was in no shape to do! I've not had anything like this from normal one-hour runs.)
