DD is 12 weeks old now and boobs have started leaking again! Is it possible to re-establish supply after all this time? Would love to start again, I really miss it.

Only one way to find out! Although you may be leaking it may not be easy to re-establish a proper supply but with dedicated expressing and putting baby to breast it may just work. Good luck.

Bit nervous about trying - like trying to suck a macdonald's milkshake poor girl!

If you are leaking though, it is clearly there. Lots of skin to skin contact will help. Good luck!!

You really need someone like tiktok for this, but think you will need to express at least 8 times in 24 hours (including during the night), and put baby to breast as much as possible to try and re-establish it.

Are you confident that your dd will be prepared to suck after having to make no effort to feed for the last few weeks? Maybe pop her on to see.

Best of luck if you do decide to go ahead.

Thank you, from a very grateful first-timer! Will try expressing so i know if she'll get a decent amount. She's a very sucky baby anyway, but need to make sure her latch is ok. Glad i kept the nipple cream...

Expressing wont indicate how much milk she can take. They are quite good at it, even when out of practice

It is certainly possible though, and expressing and getting her to try and feed are all good ways of stimulating milk supply.

Good luck!

Oh no, don't read too much into the quantity you can express - I was always a rubbish expresser!

moocowme · 02/01/2008 06:52

by all means give it a go. even if you only manage to do it part time and top up with formula it is worth it. does your lo sleep through yet? i found once mine started sleeping longer than 4 hours it was hard to get the supply up. i would definately give it a try.

Expressing won't give you a clear idea but by all means stick her on and see what happens! You will hear if she is swallowing and you'll feel the let down if it is happening. Keep trying for a few days at least, the supply will need to be rekindled and that takes a bit of demand iyswim!
Good luck, excellent that you are trying xx

Have expressed a very tiny amt from each boob, so was getting a bit excited. Unfortunately, dd does not share my enthusiasm and screams when i try to put her on. Will keep trying tho!
