When does breastfeeding hunger subside?!

My DD is 2 weeks old and I'm EBF.

I thought that my appetite had increased during pregnancy, but since she arrived it's so much more!

I'm constantly eating. Don't get me wrong- I eat pretty well, lots of fruit and veg, protein, etc with a few treats- a few biscuits or some dark chocolate with nuts thrown in. I'm not just shovelling down junk.

Am I going to be this ravenous all the while that I'm breastfeeding, or does the hunger settle down?

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm getting bored of eating! Haha. Plus I have to eat when I feed during the night or I can't sleep due to hunger pains. I'm going to be a whale by the time she weans if I carry on like this

Are you drinking enough fluids? Sometimes thirst can be seen as hunger.

I was eating like an animal for a good few months

My mum offered to get me a trough for Christmas

But do add I lost weight breastfeeding - was like a rake at one point! So keep eating..!

I took a mince pie to bed last week and my baby is almost 14 months...

I was starving the whole time. I ate fairly healthily meals-wise, wasn’t having take-outs or fast food (well, sometimes!) but I snacked loads. Especially at night. Mostly salty things like nuts & plenty of toast.
BF for 11 months, but it took me another six months to get out of those eating habits. Once I quit the extra food, the baby weight shifted (of course!)
At two weeks, I’d get the extra calories in, if you need them.

I'm drinking loads of water. On top of my hunger, I'm also constantly thirsty. Drinking minimum 3 litres of water per day.

I'm just trying to satisfy my hunger for now, but I just feel like a glutten!

Luckily DD is an angel and sleeps well, so I have plenty of time for cooking/ preparing extra meals and snacks

I'd say it was about a month or two for me before I wanted to stop shovelling it in

A couple of months. I was constantly eating and still ended up 20 lb below my prepregnancy weight. Eat when you are hungry and don’t worry.

I stopped breastfeeding 4 years ago and I still have it! Grin

I just had to go and eat a cereal bar in the bathroom to stop DH commenting on me eating more. Haha

I ate 2 sandwiches, carrot sticks and hummus and an apple for my lunch, closely followed by a coconut latte and a slice of banana bread and still needed more.

Thanks for all the comments, looks like I'm not alone, but I have a while to go of feeling like this before the hunger will subside!

DD is 16 months and I'm still always bloody ravenous. I've stored most of it on my hips, which is presumably my Eastern European peasant genes kicking in!!
