Silent reflux help!!!

My little boy is nearly 5months and is suffering very bad from silent reflux. He is combi fed but mostly breast.

From when he was around 8 weeks old he started to have mucousy poos, very gurgly stomach and a lot of wind. This then turned into head being thrown back when winding, squirmy when feeding, pulling off the boob etc.
I was informed by consultant that it could either be CMPA or reflux. We decided to try the reflux root first and he was put on omeprazole and started solids at 17weeks. Poos since have become a lot thicker but all other symptoms have remained and sleeping in the night is getting worse and worse. He’s constantly having wet burps even hours after feeding and clearing his throat. He is kept upright 30Mins before being laid down to sleep but even then is waking around 40mins later.

The only way he seems to sleep for a long period is if he is upright on me. Porridge has also been given before bed to try and keep acid down but so far not working. Consultant has suggested thickeners in bottle with breast milk but in my gut I just feel like it’s CMPA.

Has anyone had anything similar? If so what worked for you. please help a drained mum out!!

I think it's dairy as well, especially given the mucousy poos.

Have a read of this from Kellymom and see if it sounds familiar Thanks

@BunnyRuddington the poos have firmed up more to a paste now but I assume this is because he is on solids now? Ah thank you I will give it a read xxx

I wish I had paid more attention to mumsnet 5 years ago when my DS was a baby.
He was diagnosed with silent reflux and we went through absolute hell for almost the whole of his first year.
Reading up on CMPA here now, it seems he potentially had that.
I think it’s worth investigating further into it, even if you’re already treating for silent reflux. It either is and you need to know, or it isn’t and you can then rule it out.

I can only sympathise with you. It truly is bloody difficult. One of the reasons I’m one and done. It does get better. I promise - just doesn’t help you very much to hear that right now.
