Bottle refusal at 12 weeks

Help!! My 12 week old is EBF and from birth has taken bottles of expressed milk from my husband fairly regularly with no issues. Now at 12 weeks she is refusing bottles, spitting the teat out and crying. We have tried everything! I’m basically looking for positive similar experiences where this has just been temporary and baby has taken a bottle again. I’m really worried that this is it and she won’t take again!!

Do you need her to take a bottle @hmc11? It's quite common for them to assert a preference for one or the other. If you want to leave her, I'd get DH to try some Cup Feeding.

Have you got the right sized teats for their age? My DS started getting really frustrated with the slow flow at around that age but got a lot better with medium flow

@hmc11 I could have just written this myself. My baby girl is 12 weeks, is EBF but DH has given her many bottles of formula or expressed milk however she's not had a bottle in 3 weeks and all of a sudden she will not take the bottle!

I made her some cool boiled water with half a tsp of sugar just to see if it's a taste issue and she took it with no problems so I then made her a bottle of expressed milk but she refused it when her dad tried to give it to her 🤯

I've jumped on here to follow your post for any advice as I need to leave her next month for a whole day. In general though, it's just nice for her to be able to take a bottle in case I have a rough night with her and need an early night. I hope you get sorted. X

Thanks for the replies ladies! I have tried different size teats on the MAM bottles with no joy, also tried Tommee Tippee bottles. I have ordered Medala and Lansinoh bottles which should arrive tomorrow so will try them! I also have a nearly 3 year old toddler so was loving the fact that I could spend some time with her and know the baby wouldn’t be going hungry at home with my husband or my mum. Just so frustrating that she’s stopped all of a sudden, I am so hoping she picks it up again but it doesn’t seem very likely!

Has he had a go at cup feeding? My little soda DC wouldn't take bottles but I could leave them with a cup of ebm for a few hours.

Obviously with DH, not just them and a cup! Grin
