Hi all,

I have a 5 weeks old. Unfortunately my breastfeeding journey hasn’t been easy and after 2 mastitis and therefore antibiotics I ended up with thrush which won’t clear.
I tried cream for me and drop for the baby but it didn’t work. I am now on max dose of fluconazone - 400mg first day and 200mg for 14days- I am on day 5 but still no sign is getting better. At the same time I am terrified that I harming my baby with all these meds and maybe I should better give up bf… any advice or experience to share?? Thank you xx

Sounds like you've had a rough start. I wouldn't worry about it affecting your baby but if you are worried, I'd contact the Breastfeeding Network. There the experts on drugs and BFing Smile

I had this - it bloody hurts, doesn't it?

My lo is a healthy child of 3 now and sorting it out made breastfeeds so much easier. I never understood why people raved about bf before because it was agony with thrush (it took months for me to work out it was thrush and not just latch issues so we were both raging with it!). However, once we were fixed, I could see why people liked to breastfeed and why it was convenient. My lo has no problems as a result and bf until they naturally self weaned at 2.5. Take the lovely drugs would be my advice Grin
