Mastitis

Hi all

For anyone that's had mastitis, can I ask how long after starting antibiotics and trying to clear the blockage did things start to go back to normal?

I woke up Monday night in a lot of pain, shivery, breast red and hard. GP diagnosed mastitis yesterday and I've started antibiotics. I'm doing all the things recommended online like soaking in Epsom salts, using a hot flannel, massaging, using a wide-toothed comb. But although the pain has got a bit better, there's still a lump there.

I'm assuming the antibiotics won't deal with the blockage, they'll just stop it from getting infected?

I should say that DD is 8 months. I thought I was well out of the woods regarding mastitis!

I honestly can't remember but this from Kellymom has some good tips on helping to clear the lump. It's recommended to have 10 to 14 days of antibiotics so if the GP had given you less, I'd ask for some more
