Follow on milk

DS is coming up to 7 months old and is still on first infant milk. Should I be moving him onto follow on milk? Weaning is going pretty well.

I was told infant milk is fine for any age - there’s no need to move to follow on milk at all really, it’s not drastically different - the companies just make follow on milk because they’re allowed to advertise it apparently.

No need for follow on milk, it's a product created for advertising purposes as you can't advertise infant milk. Infant milk is fine to use until you wean to cows milk at 12m+

JurassicShay · 01/01/2022 14:41

All 4 of mine stayed on stage 1 until cows milk at 12 months. As said above there's no need to change.

Infant milk all the way.
There's no need for follow on milk - invented purely for money making as companies are not allowed advertise infant milk.

Scroll down to "follow on milk". There is no benefit to baby. Stay on infant formula until baby is 1.

The follow on milks evolved in response to the ban on advertising infant formula.

LonglegsMumtheBlacksmith · 01/01/2022 15:56

As everyone has said, there's not much difference between follow on and first milk, follow on has been created for advertising purposes.
HOWEVER cost of formula was a big factor in our household and you can often find follow on milk on deals and a lot cheaper. So we used the follow on....

Thank you all. I had a look at the ingredient list/nutritional values and it looks like the follow ons have slightly higher vitamin etc content, but whether that actually holds any benefit I don't know.

@LonglegsMumtheBlacksmith yeah, I did see that follow on can be cheaper, particularly the toddler milk but the number 2 milk was a bit more expensive than the number 1.
