Help moving from breastfeeding to formula

I’m trying to slowly move from breast to formula. LO is 2 months now, I’ve introduced a formula bottle each day and LO takes it fine but my struggle is she’s not drinking loads of it.
As I’m currently feeding on demand with bf I don’t know how much she’s getting.
I’ve tried to give her 4oz of formula (as I read that’s how much she would be having with each feed) and some times she takes it others she’ll only have around 2oz and goes to sleep.

Basically I don’t know the best way to move from breast to bottle if anyone has advice? I want to try get to mostly bottles.

I thought they’d be more of a routine going to bottle as at the moment I just stick her on the boob when she’s crying, hungry etc. am I doing the same with a bottle? Don’t want to waste milk that’s all. Not sure how much to make her when she wakes/hungry.
Sorry if this sounds silly, FTM and only breast fed so not sure about anything with bottles.

Any help & advice will be appreciated 🥰
(Don’t want a discussion on why I want to move to formula & a bottle)

She won't drink as much as a ff baby to begin with. BF babies only take roughly 25 floz a day and unlike FF babies they don't need to drink ever increasing amounts of milk as your milk changes to meet their needs.

So a BF baby will take roughly 1floz per hour so if it's been 2 hours since you last fed her, she'll probably only take 2floz of milk.

I'd just pick a time you want to offer the bottle and not worry about how much she drinks. Leave it a couple of weeks and introduce another and just keep going like this until she's completely on formula.

This will reduce your risk of mastitis and give her time to get used to the much higher volume of milk that she will need to drink Smile

@PanicBuyingSprouts this is brilliant thank you! I was worrying as to why she wasn’t taking as much formula but what you’ve said makes sense.

That's ok, just wish I'd known it when I was trying to get my first to take bottles! Grin
