When to add a meal and when do bottles generally reduce?

I feel like these are stupid questions but the books I've read haven't made this clear!

How do you know when baby is ready to add in an extra meal? I understand you start with one meal a day, then add a second then a third (and presumably some snacks).

When do babies generally drop a bottle if FF?

I started on 3 (though that's what you were supposed to do until I read up on it months later Grin). I'm not sure if there's a right or wrong way but with DS he either didn't want it when I went to give it him or he wouldn't be hungry at mealtimes so to me that was a sign to drop one. He doesn't have any snacks because he doesn't get very hungry between meals. He's 1 now and is off all his bottles as I took them away gradually.

Mine dropped a bottle naturally at 10 months.
I introduced a meal every couple of weeks till he hit the 3.
