Just thought I'd say...

Ahem... Cause I was too scared to post anywhere else.

Should have changed my name to "wussyfraidycatbert"

Ugh, I'm steering well clear. Don't have the time or energy. Life's too short ....

PicadillyCircus · 15/11/2004 15:27

how true. haven't looked at either thread for a while but sure it is still going strong!

Catbert · 15/11/2004 15:30

well, I disagree life's too short. I have plenty of ageing grandparents to testify to this being complete nonsense ...

(he he he!!!)

Gobbledigook · 15/11/2004 15:30

It is.

Sorry, I can't resist a good barney

There's that, plus it's just marginally more enjoyable than the work I should be doing

buka · 15/11/2004 15:30

Too right!
Christ, if I wanted a well meaning but deathly dull conversation about how many hours the baby is sleeping or which bloody Charlie Chalk is the best, I'd clear off down to my local mother and baby group and die of boredom in the corner.

Lets liven things up a bit!
How come people are so easily offended?
Are we all supposed to be sweeter than sugar just because we are mothers?

mrsflowerpot · 15/11/2004 15:31

excellent, a thread for all of us too scared to get involved! Has been making me seethe, but can't quite bring myself to wade in!

nailpolish · 15/11/2004 15:32

That's OK Catbert, MrsFlowerpot - we've brought the fight to you instead!!

KateandtheGirls · 15/11/2004 15:35

I wrote this on the other post:

"There are many other factors that come into play when a woman decides whther to breastfeed (or is forced into that decision by circumstances). And in many cases formula feeding is the best all-around choice for mum and baby for a variety of reasons, even though breastmilk would be a "healthier" choice.

I would assume that any woman who is interested enough in her childrens' welfare to be posting on a board like this has considered all the factors and made the best decision for her and her family."

I personally couldn't breastfeed my first though I desparately wanted to, and breastfed my second till 17 months. To me it was important, but I would never criticise someone who, having considered it carefully, decided not to breasfeed.

mrsflowerpot · 15/11/2004 15:36

OK, will wade in now. People tend to be "easily offended" if you make sweeping statements about their parenting suggesting they are bad mothers. No we do not have to be sweeter than sugar but respecting other people and their choices even if you do not like them is not a bad place to start.

GhostofNatt · 15/11/2004 15:42

Anybody else noticed how when these fights are raging you tend to get lots of other threads at same time about what is your favourite colour for kittens or anybody got a great recipe for marshmallow soup or similar...

msann · 15/11/2004 15:44

marshmallow soup?? of course i have a recipe...its a family favourite.....

GhostofNatt · 15/11/2004 15:46

Well why haven't you posted it on the "tasty recipes for any occasion" thread?

nailpolish · 15/11/2004 15:47

pmsl!

JoolsToo · 15/11/2004 16:00

I like a good scrap but I'll say this only once - no need to endorse it

Catbert · 15/11/2004 16:02

My favourite colour for kittens is tabby.

I prefer my marshmallows roasted on an open fire.

Possibly the same open fire that some MNs are roasting other MNs over during these wonderful discussions!

I liked someone (forget who now) mentioning "A mothers place is in the wrong" Fantastic.

Think it sums up ME. Every statement made towards me since I became a mother is always taken as a personal insult, even if it was not intended to be! It's like motherhood opened a can full of over emotional worms and I am always doubting my choices and opinions, and also changing them every time my children move into a different age group, and different set of parenting decisions have to be made.

I yearn for the days when I was childless and knew EVERYTHING about how to raise children right!

Gobbledigook · 15/11/2004 16:03

Catbert - everything you do with your children is right if you and your children are happy and loved! Just cos it's not the same as someone else's choices doesn't make it wrong!

DillyDally · 15/11/2004 16:04

I prefer my kittens roasted on an open fire and marshmallows in huge handfuls
C'mon, who wants to take me on?

JoolsToo · 15/11/2004 16:05

not me! I like kittens spit roasted marshmallows - I can leave thank you!

hunkermunker · 15/11/2004 18:58

I hate kittens. Does that make me a bad mother? Actually, I don't - does that make me a bad mother? Actually, I'm a bad mother. Does that make me a kitten?

I like this thread - it's playful. Much like a kitten. Anyone got a ball of twine? Or a ball of marshmallows? Can we play what colour is the sky in Hunkermunker's world now, oh, please!

Twiglett · 15/11/2004 19:00

pmsl @ hunkermunker

hunkermunker · 15/11/2004 19:02

Twiglett, still seeing the sneaky? Or are you perhaps inserting 'lunatic' after that last post?!

Donbean · 15/11/2004 20:21
