DD is a bottle-refuser - need advice on which sippy cup ...

DD is 11 weeks old, and is exclusively bf. I have been expressing from early on, and she has been offered a bottle (of ebm) once a day (at about 10.30pm) by dh, so that I can go to bed early.

DH has always found it a bit of a struggle to gove her her bottle at this time - we've tried different teats, and diferent bottles (Avent and Tommee Tippee), but, in the past week or so, it's been absolutely impossible to get her to take anything from a bottle.

FWIW, she also spits any dummy out as well, although she will quite happily take her Gaviscon (well, most of the time), from a medicine spoon - but that's just not practical as a long term measure!

Any suggestions?

take the valves out for the first few times so they know that its a cup and they will get a drink from it!

oooh, have just found a voucher for money off from boots - do all branches of boots stock them?

ejt, how did it go? Have you tried the mam bottles yet? I am in a v.similar situation to you and have wasted too much ebm on dd's bottle refusals. I may give the mam ones a go too.

I haven't tried the mam bottles yet ... have yet to get to boots to buy them!

Lovely to hear from you again rubles ... will give you an update on progress - if you have any luck with your bottle refuser, let me know!

I hate wasting ebm!

I've just given up on MAM bottles because they are such a fiddle to assemble (no base, you screw on a bottom part with holes in and pop a rubber valve in to seal it). dd2 would take tiny amounts with them though. Tried her on NUK teats today, no success, but no crying either...

I have bought a mam bottle. I just can't be bothered to express any milk - that's the next hurdle.

I haven't bought any Mam bottles - we've gone for the beaker option in the end - and have bought a tommee tippee feeding beaker - mind you, we haven't tried that yet either ... dh says he'll give it a go after Christmas!

Merry Christmas everybody!
