Periods and breastfeeding....

Auntie Flo has reared her ugly head and I am still BFing - he has one bottle at night, but has not cut down on feeds at all in last month.

And it's a proper, heavy period, first one in 18 months. Anyone else had this? I didn't get one with DS1 until long after I'd finished BFing.

I fully bf dd2 and when she was three months old I found out I was pg with ds, so I can only assume that had it not been my birthday I would have had a period.

I Bfed for 2 years & AF was back after the 1st year. Didn't really wonder why tbh. I was quite pleased because I kept suspecting I was pregnant again.

Mine came back after 8 months and I'm still bfing now.

One of my friends got hers back after only 4 months and she was excl bfing a hungry baby. Her SIl bottlefed and had to wait 7 months for hers to come back.

It does vary....

I fell pg with ds whist fully BF DD 5 months old.
Had mirena fitted within 12 weeks of having DS
Have not had AF therefore since the beginning of 2004, sorry can't help.
but do know many people who did have AF return whilst fully BF

mine came back within 4-6 weeks of birth of all 3. Was convinced at first must have had terrible womb infection each time etc... GPs at a loss... Penny only dropped when it happened again 4 weeks later, and again etc...

Bloody pita especially since DS is a fussy feeder when it happens...

Thanks all. I confess that keeping the old girl at bay is a contributing factor in my continuing to BF this baby longer than last one. Having said that, it looks like it's come back after 8 months, BF or no BF!

Feel dreadful. Will get some kind of contraceptive to make me stop having them. And continue to practise total sexual abstinence....
