How much posseting / milk spit up is "normal" ?

My son is 3 weeks old and I'm wondering if he might have silent reflux. My other son had it and we had to switch to anti reflux milk.

The 3 week old has always been quite pukey after feeds but its only ever small quantities at a time. Since turning 2 weeks however I've noticed that its constant. He always seems to have milk spit up in his mouth as well and seems to swallow it most of the time but if laid flat or suddenly moved he spits it out. This happens about 5/6 times in the hour or two after his feeds and he feeds A LOT every 2 hours he takes roughly 4oz, but he fusses with it a lot and gulps it or spits it out while drinking.

I've also noticed he suffers from hiccups A LOT and does not like being laid flat on his back. He much prefers sleeping on someone or in his car seat where he is sat up straighter. He also writhes around with wind after feeding and has colicky type fussing sessions in the evening.

Another weird thing is that he has had a cold for 10 days now. I assume its a cold, he just has a runny nose - we've been using a snot sucker and saline solution to help unblock him but I've also read this can be an indicator of reflux.

Just wondered if anyone else's child had similar? With my first son he just had the colicky screaming sessions in the evening, he was never sick as he swallowed it all again, GP diagnosed silent reflux, we switched milks and he was happy from then on in. This seems a bit more complicated!

TIA!

Sounds like it to me OP, it's so hard being a baby (and a parent)!

The 'cold', fussing and sick would all suggest CMPA

Some info on how normal it is. Article isn't just about breastfed babies.

@Mittenmob I did wonder about this. He doesn't have a rash or anything like that though.

Does sound like reflux especially the crying when laying down.

One of cmpa symtpoms is a rash but it's not compulsory for a cmpa diagnosis. My Dc1 ever had a rash, her symtpom was screaming all day. DC2 was happy but had blood in his stool. So the symptoms vary but reflux is typically a symptom of cmpa.
