How much milk for an 8 month old?

A friend asked me for advice about how much milk her 8 month old needed to have but I don't know the answer.
Her dd is on solids and my friend wants to cut right back on her dd's feeds as she is back at work.
Think she would rather not give formula.
Is there a minimum amount of milk a baby ought to have at this age, if the baby is eating well?
I know that ideally milk is the main source of sustenance for a baby for its first 12 months but not sure how strictly you need to follow this without causing any harm to the baby's health.
Can anyone offer some advice?
TIA

Hi Pannacotta-I've got an 8 month old who currently has around 26oz's a day.
He would drink more if I let him,but from what I remember my hv said 20oz should be the minimum at this age, providing they are eating well too.

Thanks Bubbaloo, just realised I didnt phrase the question very well.
I am interested to how how many feeds a day her dd would need. She is breastfed so its impossible to judge the actual amount of milk but the number of feeds might give an idea IYSWIM...

My friend's HV told her that two feeds a day - morning and night - were enough for her 8 mo. Doesn't feel enough to me, my DS (7 mo) is on 4 feeds.

I know what you mean, my 7 month old still feeds every 3 hours and eats lots! But I presume there is a minimum cut off, anyone else know about the min 2 feeds per day?

my ds didnt go down to 2 feeds till around 10/11 months. At 8 months he had just cut down to 4 feeds from 5. 20oz is the minimum but does include milk with cereal, in foods, dairy products, etc.

My 10mo DS still has 4 BFs a day. I am still at home though so no particular rush to cut back on them.

Could she not express one or two feeds for her DD to have in the day? Why is she concerned about giving formula, out of interest?
