very confused - 8-week old losing weight

8-week old dd lost weight last week. hv didn't seem too worried, and thought it might be down to a little snuffle dd has had, but dd has been a bit slow to gain weight since birth.

i'm bf her; she feeds almost every hour during the day for about 20 minutes each time, then has a night feed that is usually at least 40 minutes.

does this sound normal? does anyone know if there's anything i can do to help her gain weight?

How much weight, and are you confident the weight was recorded accurately, lazy cat.... baby shd be naked on digital scales....and translated accurately from metric/imperial?

Feeding pattern sounds fine and shd be often enough to ensure a good intake. Blips in weight are not uncommon though consistent weight loss wd need to be checked out.

scales were digital. however, not at all confident about weight recording - weighed three times in succession and the readings were different each time! hv knows that the scales are dodgy, but even accounting for that dd isn't putting on much weight...

difficult to know what to do - so much contradictory (sp?) advice about bf.

If the weight can't be relied on, lazycat, then all ponderings and wonderings are pointless!

Can you take your baby to be weighed again, somewhere where the health visitors are competent, with adequate equipment?

Pooing loads not relevant at this stage (many babies go days between poos by now).
