Nipple shields - how do I get a good latch?

Hi 👋 I've been using nipples shields for a couple of weeks due to LO's tongue tie. Despite it being fixed, sometimes I have a pain free latch but other times I still feel a pinching and pins and needles sensation. At 4 weeks old the nipple is very tall for her to latch onto deeply. Does anyone have any tips for how to achieve a deep latch using a tall nipple shield?
Thanks all 😊

Congratulations on your lo :) the way they latch should in theory be the same technique with the shield as without, with nipple pointing out sort towards the back of their head if that makes sense, nose free, wide mouth etc. However, the latch will naturally not be as deep using a shield.
I found the same until my lo had grown a bit and his mouth was bigger.
I did find getting the right shield helped though. The medela ones were good for me and also the Mam ones weren't too bad. There are different sizes of the Medela ones too and getting the right size definitely helped me.
