Neocate formula. Is it safe?

My baby was prescribed a trial of neocate as she has had dioreaha for weeks now. I'm afraid to use it because when i searched it i saw that it can cause rickets.

Does anyone know if this is true? Also it says you should be in regular contact with GP when on this. Is this also true? I can't imagine my GP being overly happy with that

Thanks guys

Well...it would be safer than untreated cows milk protein allergy/intolerance.

How old is your baby?

Also, if you have been prescribed Neocate, you should have been referred to a Paediatric Dietician.

The Dietitian can tell you how to replace to Vitamin D abs Calcium. This is easily done after 6 months with their diet, hence me asking how old they are Smile

I'm rare occurances yes it can cause phosphate rickets.

However, as above still safer than untreated cmp allergy. Although to jump straight to neonate do they also suspect lactose is an issue?

Dd was on neonate as she had lactose intolerance but it took an age to get the gp to move her to it. They put her on an aptimil cmp free one first

Sorry Terminally. Hadn't realised that. Obviously I need to read up! Blush
