Breastfeeding with abscess

Hi all - new mum here!

I've got a breast abscess on one side which is draining on its own (it's dressed so isn't leaking anywhere near the nipple.) I'm still breastfeeding on that side on the advice of my GP however 90% of the times that I feed off this side my LO spits up a large amount of the milk he's just eaten. Has anyone else found this? Should I stop feeding on this side?

Everything i heard about this when i had an abscess was that the milk should be fine. If you are worried you could perhaps pump and dump from that side for a while, then try again in a few days? Does your wound have packing in it? There is also a really helpful Facebook group called lactational breast abscess sufferers where you can get the benefit of more experience.
