Breastfeeding: Numbness in middle back. Bulging disc? Compression of a nerve?

Hi.

I'm still breasfeeding my 2year old toddler. Not so much anymore, only in the morning and after nursery, and a little more often at the weekend.
However I think the breastfeeding has had a very negative impact on my body, and it has recently got worse.

I've now constantly got a feeling of numbness in the middle back area on the left side. Same feeling of numbness and tingling in the left forearm.

I'm very careful these days when I breasfeed, I mostly do it lying down.
So I don't always get numbness and tingling when I do it.

However it gets really bad when I do other activities like sitting at a desk, lifting objects, leaning forward. It also gets really bad after I lift the baby.

I've just been referred to have an MRI but I'm posting here to ask if anyone's experienced a similar problem and what the outcome was?
Is the damage permanent? What can I do about it?

I'd love to stop BF but that's not going too well.
I'd love to stop lifting the baby but it's impossible not to lift her sometimes.

I'm very very depressed...

Can anyone help?

Thanks x

You need to speak to your GP. I've fed 2 to over 2 abs a half and have never had this.

@Sandrine1982 Hi did you find out what was causing this? I’m 8 months postpartum and breast feeding and have the same symptom. What did the cause end up being if you don’t mond me asking. Thank you

Hi @Concernedkay . So I had the MRI last year which showed that I have some narrowing of the spinal canal and slightly protruding discs which may be causing this. Since then I have been doing some neck exercises and also stopped breastfeeding last summer. The numbness in the back is still there - especially if I sit at the desk all day, which is super annoying, but the arm is fine now. How are you getting on? Not sure this is helpful ...
hope you get better soon x
