How / when do I start expressing?

DS is 3 weeks old and I have to go away for the night in a couple of weeks. Want to have a stash of breast milk ready for him as DH will have to feed him via bottle. How much should I express a day, how many times a day and what time of day is best to do it? DS currently feeds on demand!

Morning is meant to be the best time, but I did quite well expressing on one side while dd fed on the other (does mean you can't mn at the same time though).

I didn't even try expressing till dd was 8wks though - how urgent is this night away?

I don't mean to put a dampner on things, but being away for a night when bf'ing probably isn't the best thing for your lo and your supply.

Advice is not to start expressing until 6 weeks, so your supply has time to build and regulate.
