My baby doesn't like formula

Hello everyone,

I was hoping to get some advice. I'm trying to introduce formula to my 8 week old baby girl but she doesn't like it and it's really frustrating. I still want to breast feed but I also want to be able to give her formula milk sometimes as I won't be at home full time anymore. Any advice? She is on Aptamil atm.
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏 xx

Is it the ready made liquid or powder you are using? Do you warm it up?

At that age DS would only have the ready made formula, not the powdered variety. Try a different brand maybe?

Try mixing formula with breastmilk and slowly decrease the amount of breastmilk and increase the formula.

This or try a different brand of formula.

Also try getting someone else to give her the formula and make sure you leave the room when she is being fed. If you are there she want breastmilk

I found Hipp organic ready made actually tasted like real milk, perhaps try that one?

Nikkynakkynoo · 21/10/2021 07:38

Hipp organic was recommended to me as tasting closest to breast milk and worked for both my little ones. I also expressed and started with 50/50 breast and formula mixed then gradually adjusted the ratio as they got used to the taste. Finally, its worth experimenting with temperature - my youngest likes it around body temperature as most guidance suggests, but my oldest would only ever drink fridge cold formula!

Oh also agree with getting someone else to bottle feed, or if that's not an option feed them in a bouncy chair or similar rather than holding them on your lap

Warm it to body temp.
Put in bottle with wide teat like mam.
Take your top and bra off.
Squidge your baby’s face against your breast and hold them tight then pop the bottle in and touch the roof of their mouth.
Make sure you coo/smile/talk as you would to them.

Worked both times with our DSs who were boob monsters.

Forgot to add: Once they realise it’s not the devil they will take it more easily from you/others. You won’t have to do that forever.
