black stringy like things in poop of a 2-month-old

Hello all!
Since a few days, the poop of my baby, who is around 10 weeks old now, is often having some black string-like specks, or whatever one may call them as. For background, he's been on a mix of breastfeeding and formula, in a 50:50 ratio, and he has not shown any signs of constipation so far. He does have a bit of runny poop sometimes, but frequency has been ok, so I guess no diarrhoea either. Also, I don't have cracked or sore nipples, so it's not that he could be sucking any blood from there.

Any idea what this could be, and why suddenly this happens. The only recent change I can think of is that my doctor asked me to take iron pills, as my iron levels have gone down in post partum, and I started taking them recently. Could the iron pills that I am taking do something to baby's poop?

Thanks in advance, I feel a bit worried. Doctors aren't that great where I live, so I thought to double-check others' experiences here as well.

My daughter had this and it was blood. I had damaged a duct when trying to use a manual breast pump. There was no sign of it on the outside of the breast and only spotted it after expressing and finding my milk was full of blood. Maybe try expressing to check?

I was going to say "it's banana!" Until I saw the age. Hopefully someone will be able to offer some advice

Thanks for your suggestion about what could be the case and for sharing your experience, but I have not used a breast pump since quite some time now (I used it only a couple of times earlier), and this is a recent phenomenon, so I doubt if it has anything to do with my breast. I am worried if it's something gastrointestinal. I am stopping the iron supplements for myself anyway now, since these black flakes started around the same time: of course, it could be a coincidence, in which case the black flakes should not stop with the iron pills.
