Feeds - 7.5 month old

Morning,

I think this is right area to post. My LO is 7.5 months old. Weaning great no issues there.

Last few days lo has been ravenous it feels like I can't feed her enough.

Bottles currently are;
7am - 8oz drained bottle normally.
Porridge
11am 7/8oz can be drained.
Lunch then nap
3pm 7/8oz
Sometimes dinner before nap sometimes after nap depends on how naps have worked out that day.
630pm/7pm - 8oz normally drained but sometimes isn't.

I wonder if I should add another bottle after lunch, before her nap? I wondered what other people do? As couple times shes woken early from lunch nap and wants her 3pm feed at like 2pm. I know to feed her if hungry but worried it could mess the 3pm feed up so to speak. Or should I just feed her more solids. She drinks plenty of water I would say approx about 3/4 oz a day

Little advise my brain hurts 😂

Mine were bf so I can't comment on number of oz but the frequency and times sounds similar. Doesn't she have a morning nap though? Mine had supper as well as milk at bedtime, small bowl of porridge usually.

Fancyties · 12/10/2021 09:59

Thanks.haha yes I see that doesn't make sense
7am bottle.
8am poriddge
830/9am nap until she wakes
11am feed
12 lunch
130pm - depending on previous nap ending time. May be slightly earlier.
3pm- feed
4pm - dinner
430pm - nap.
630pm feed
7pm sleep.

Ooo I see add a supper meal? After evening feed?

I really want to get rid of late nap and thought maybe adding a little bottle at 1pm ish may just help her go longer for this nap then give top up when she wakes.

I'm no expert but at same age my bf LO normally wants milk at lunchtime as well as the number of feeds/meals you are giving.

TooMinty · 12/10/2021 10:24

Mine did two long naps by that age but sometimes had to make bedtime earlier if they were over tired. I remember feeling like the whole day was just about getting them to eat or sleep, fitting in all the feeds, meals and naps 😂

Fancyties · 12/10/2021 13:11

Thanks @ftmbg - I have just fed her another milk before going down and she took 8 oz 😳 poor kid must have been starving.

It's odd as she's never had more then 700mls in a day before weaning now she be up to almost 1000mls if she drinks her other two bottles.

@toominty omg that's what I feel I done today. Literally I got into town, fed her. Within half hour many - gave her a warder then she had half Ella's pouch. Then got home. A yoghurt Ella's pouch. Then 8oz bottle 😳😳

Literally never fed her so much 🤣🤣

Have her a wafer instead of warder 🤣

OP posts:
TooMinty · 12/10/2021 15:48

I'm not sure if those pouches are very filling? I definitely remember getting through a lot of breadsticks at that stage!

Fancyties · 12/10/2021 16:12

She only has them when we're out/now and again and we were bit longer then I planned.

Usually she has finger food with puree. She will literally eat anything.

Haha yep breadstick little girl here too!

Once you've started weaning, if baby is hungry add more solids / snacks.

They should be increasing food and decreasing milk

Fancyties · 12/10/2021 16:42

I give her loads honest.
Porridge - 3 big scoops of the spoon you use for the baby milk powder plus 40mls approx cows milk.

Wafer/breadstick/puff snack.

Lunch - quiche, omelette, crumpet, toast, scrambled egg, baked potato cheese etc

After fruit/yoghurt.

Dinner - from night before, pasta, spag bol, chicken thing, honest anything I find. Sometimes a puree plus fruit yoghurt after.

Breadstick

She's never been a milk fan so I'm shocked 🤣😳

I only wrote a post a couple weeks ago saying my lo wasn't drinking milk. Only 700mls a day.

Is she having water with meals? She might be thirsty rather than hungry

FirstTimeMommy2021 · 12/10/2021 16:57

I'm no expert as I'm still learning myself but this is my routine for DS who I was advised by dietician to start weaning at 5 months. He's now 7 months.

  • Wakes up around 7 and I give him porridge with mashed banana by 7:30 (around 2.5oz of food) with sips of water throughout.
  • Goes down for nap around 9:15
  • 10am will have a 8oz bottle
  • Goes down for nap around 12
  • 1pm I give him lunch (half Ellas kitchen pouch & few spoonfuls of a fruit purée mixed with half a crushed low sugar rusk for dessert) with sips of water throughout
  • 3pm I give him a 6oz bottle
  • 5pm I give him tea (again normally half a pouch or whatever I'm cooking blended and mashed down with a few spoonfuls of fruit purée for a dessert, with sips of water)
  • Bath at 7pm
  • 8oz bedtime bottle around 8pm and then he's down for the night before 9pm

He will wake up once through the night normally having a mahoosive poo and once I've changed him he's wide awake and playful for around half an hour or so then goes back down... I normally have to put him in with me to get him back to sleep. I either transfer him back to cot if I wake back up or just leave him in with me

FirstTimeMommy2021 · 12/10/2021 16:59

Oh and he will normally have a kiddylicious wafer as a snack at some point through the day

Fancyties · 12/10/2021 17:05

@firsttimemommy2021 sounds similar to what I give tbh. She has enough water as she wants I offer it too her throughout.

OP posts:
TooMinty · 12/10/2021 19:12

I think at this stage, if they are not asleep then they are eating 😂
Mine also liked to snack on dry Shreddies or Cheerios.

Fancyties · 12/10/2021 19:44

Yes definitely!! Just a change of pace, hollow legs as my nan would say. I will go With what she want. Me giving her a feed at just before 1pm - let her sleep till 345 and had 6oz from 4pm feed and 7oz from her bedtime feed with dinner in between 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
Fancyties · 12/10/2021 23:44

I have decided it must be a growth spurt or developmental. She has just woken ( I rarely get night feeds now) for a feed and drank 150mls. There is no way this kid is hungry 🤣 not after her food and milk intake today.

My 8m old is on exactly the same schedule as yours and he’s also easily draining bottles that size, only difference is he has 2 naps not 3.
He’s eating for England too at the moment, I can’t keep up with him!

Fancyties · 13/10/2021 08:37

That's great to hear! @dashdotcom how long does your little one sleep in the day?

OP posts:
Dashdotcom · 13/10/2021 09:28

@Fancyties I count myself very lucky that he normally has an hour and half at 9:30 and then another hour and a half at around 2ish, although sometimes he cuts this one short.

Thatsplentyjack · 13/10/2021 09:47

Sounds just like mine. She's 8 months. She's still on 6oz of milk but doesn't always finish it. She's a chunk, and really tall and active so I wish she would drink a bit more milk in one go but. I think that sounds fine, and unless she's making noises for more food, I probably wouldn't bother.

Fancyties · 13/10/2021 13:13

Yes I'm the same I normally get 3/3.5 hours a day - it's the third nap my lo can't deal without at the moment. I tried it yesterday and I had overtired baby awake in middle of night.

Thank you @thatsplentyjack it's hard isn't it. Always changing
