Breastfeeding and formula

Hello,

Does anyone recommends a formula milk for a breastfeed baby? My daughter is now 7weeks old and I want to start to combine formula milk and keep breastfeeding as well. Would be great if I can have some recommendations/advice. Thank you

I think legally they all have to be the same.

If I were you, I'd pick one you can easily get your hands on at your local shops.

If you're in the uk then they're all very similar and highly regulated. Just try whichever one is cheapest or easiest to get and see how you get on with it.
The tubs of powder need to be used within 4 weeks so if you're not going to give many bottles then you might be better with pre-made.

Agree with the others. All formula milk has to conform to very strict nutritional standards and there's no proof that one is better or worse than another.

With the winter coming and fuel shortages already, I'd just use the one that's available close to where you live. There's no point in choosing one particular formula if it's only available in a supermarket 8 miles away and you don't have petrol or there's a snowdrift outside your home.

Has anyone been in a situation where you’re deciding whether to give up breastfeeding or not, due to baby having an incredibly strong grip?? :’( She’s now 10 weeks old and exclusively breastfed, her latch is good and we’ve received tones of support, but her mouth just grips me so tightly and she’s sucks so hard that it hurts 24/7 :’(

I would get a BFC to observe a feed of you can @CBurns96. They should be able to see if adjusting your position can help.

Are there any BFing Support Groups near to you?

We have been and I’ve tried several different positions - it’s purely the pressure of her grip that’s killing me :’(
