Breastfeeding

Hey Mumma's,

I'm EBF and want to increase my supply. My LO is 11weeks old.

I'm wondering when to pump so that it doesn't affect the amount my boy gets when feeding?

Will I get any if I do it after a feed?
Also should I pump in between feeds?
I normally feed off one breast per feed so should I pump the other whilst/after feeding?

I have a fast let down for around 5 mins then it slows, but my boy gets super impatient if it's not flowing so I don't want to affect how much he gets during a feed.

Thanks!

Hi Smile

I’m no expert but my baby is almost 3 weeks old, and I find I have to pump before a feed or my breast are too engorged and she can’t latch on, apparently this is quite common and even though they feel empty after pumping, babies have a very strong suck and can get a lot of milk the pump can’t, so I wouldn’t worry if you pump before a feed.

I find that if I pump after a feed, I get barley any and is a really tedious process. I strongly recommend the cups that catch the milk from your alternate breast while feeding, rather than actually pumping, these work really well for us.

Use a Hakka on one breast while you're feeding from the other.

@shouldistop yes I just bought one of these as I heard good things about them! Thanks both for the advice!
