Baby going off milk?

Hi my baby is 17 weeks today

He drink 6oz bottles and he normally drink really well, but the past couple of days he seems to not be drinking a lot. Does this mean he's ready to start weening, or is he just going through a fussy stage? I've also read it could be because he's teething?

It definitely doesn't mean he's ready for weaning @Aimsxox. The signs of readiness for weaning are in this link Smile

Have you had a look to see if you can see any teeth coming through?

Thank you for that link! And no I haven't checked for teeth yet, I'll have a look when he wakes up. He has got rosey cheeks. Shall I wait to start weening then? Sorry my first baby so don't really know when it's best to start! ☺️

It's best to start weaning when he's showing the signs of readiness in the link. For some babies that's around six months, for a few it's slightly before or slightly after.

If he has red cheeks, have you tried a dose of Calpol?

I breastfed my baby but there were periods she would go through where she wanted more milk and times when she wanted less. I hated it when she went off her milk, always worried she would starve! But she never did. I think if it’s just a couple of days and you’re still getting plenty of wet nappies etc then it’s probably just one of those mysterious baby things. The amount of milk your baby takes has nothing to do with weaning though.

Going from the link you sent, I don't think he's quite ready for weening yet then.

Yes I have gave him calpol

If you've given him Calpol, does he have more milk afterwards?
