how much EBM would help an older weaned child's immune system?

sneakily and helpfully someone suggested giving an older weaned child a bit of extra EBM in their cereal or whatever. I think this is genius but want to know how much would be the minimum needed to make a difference to antibody levels etc? does anyone know?

Obv I want to save the magic juice for my little bubba if I'm expressing and so I can have the occasional hour off but since mine are so prone to colds I'm very tempted...

Hunker does this.

I wouldn't worry about exact amounts.
Depends entirely on what you can spare!

I gave ds1 and ds2 colostrum (so not much- but ds1 got it twice. god you can buy cow's colostrum for autistic kids so I thought ds1 may as well have some freebies from me).

HV told me that the immunity provided by bm wears becomes gradually less effective after from about 4 months as a child's immune system matures and develops. I bfed dd till she was 19mths regardless but I'm not sure she was any more resistant to the bugs going round nursery than any of the other children.

Having said that my HV came out with all sorts of peculiarities so your guess is as good as mine. It can't possibly do your dc's any harm no matter how old they are - particularly good if children have sicky bugs I can imagine.

Dingdong, amuse us with some of her gems.

i was still bf up until the last few weeks and ds is just 2 years and 4 months now. He def seemed to benefit from my bm as it helped his excema loads and he almost never caught a cold.
I would say as much as you can spare, but every drop counts
