My nine month old has 3 meals a day plus a bottle in the morning, midmorning and then one before bed (7oz each time). a friend said i should be looking at replacing the afternoon feed with something else now. am looking for healthy ideas which are still substantial. silly question but does it need to be replaced with something with calcium in? he does get hsi calcium in cows milk and yoghurts etc too.
Many thanks

tbh I just replaced the afternoon feed with a youghurt. Dd now has a yoghurt & a a sandwich for lunch (& some fruit if v hungry...)

However if he is happy with it there is no need to replace it at all if he is happy.

Another idea would be to reduce it slowly in volume maybe?

I have a nine month old and she would never get through to dinner time without her afternoon feed. She has three meals a day also but has 4 bottles. I wouldn't worry about dropping it. With my first dd she basically let me know when she didn't want it anymore. I think she was about 11/12 months by then.

my ds went to 2 bottles around 10/10 1/2 months but it was when he lost interest in the 3rd bottle, not bacause I thought he should have only 2. Why not be guided by your lo rather than by your friend and reduce the milk when he wants to? He still needs around 20oz per day so 3 x 7oz sounds fine to me.
