Hi all

I have a 7 month baby first day back at work today he is ebf but im trying to wean him off breast hes also on solids and want him to have formula from now, i didnt do a transition period so today im engorged at work, im hand expressing a little to ease discomfort, how do i go about this? Im a first time mum hw feeds for comfort in night to which im trying to stop, i know if i express at work it will keep producing milk im so confused thank you x

Seems like you are doing the right thing to hand express a little to avoid engorgement if you are going cold turkey. I think you can also express at work if you want but gradually decrease the amount? Apparently when milk supply is very established by now so it is not as reactive as in the early days ... so it is not like you will start "super producing" if you express once.

I'd start with the daytime and then later reduce night feeds to not have too many changes at once. These may even temporarily increase if little one misses you and nursing during the day.

What have you already been doing to wean him off the breast? Do you mean that you haven’t done a transition period at work or between switching to formula?

Hiya i havent done transition period going back to work, he's had the forumla before if i was out and dh taking care of him for afternoon etc but is fussy with it if he knows he can get my breast milk
