Hmm, DD was like this, went days at some point but I don't think she was quite so young. Amazing how your memory fades! I would call the MW just to check. Happy 1 week Birthday BTW!

Lots of big wet nappies.... should I stand by for an explosion then? LOL

some BF babies can go quite a while without pooing, especially cos breast milk is more easily digested. Really go on how your baby is, is he distressed, is his tummy hard and distended, did he have any complications at the birth, all these things.

terramum · 06/12/2007 13:29

Yes, I would call your mw. Especially as you are concerned - even if it turns out to be nothing then at least you can stop worrying about it .

How else is he generally? How often is he feeding? What were his nappies (wet & dirty) like before this? This page on kellymom has some information about what to expect in the early weeks: www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/newborn-nursing.html#week1

This is one of tiktoks hot subjects. It is normal for an older bf baby to go without pooing for several days, but not for a younger one. Let me search and find out what she recommends. I'll be back. Unless we have another power cut like we did earlier....

BahHunkerBug · 06/12/2007 13:44

Yes, call the MW. But also call one of the bf lines.

What was his last poo like?

DanJARMouse · 06/12/2007 13:45

last poo was yellow mustard seeds! will call mw then.... is it serious?

He's probably fine - really very probably. But no poo for a day should always be checked out in a baby less than two weeks old. He's probably getting ready for an up the back special!

My profile has the bf supportline numbers on (now - had to move it across to festive namechange!).

I'd be a lot more worried if he'd not done a yellowy one yet, but he has and he's feeding well. Try feeding him again - it often stimulates them to poo!

mawbroonGotRunOverByAReindeer · 06/12/2007 13:53

DanJARMouse, have searched under some of tiktoks posts and the general theme of them is that the not pooing thing isn't considered ok until the baby is a few weeks old and that you should call MW or one of the helplines.

Does your MW know what she's doing with BF? Let us know what she says.

DanJARMouse · 06/12/2007 14:12

He's a little monkey! Has just done a big smelly one!

Why do they do this to us! Was just about to pick the phone up!

Great news DanJARMouse

BTW, I don't think I said congratulations on Daniel's arrival. And it sounds like you are doing great with the bf.

BahHunkerBug · 06/12/2007 14:25

Huzzah!

Was it an up the back special?
