canestan and breast feeding

My ds is now nearly 10 months and is on mixed feeds and solids as I'm back at work.

I've just got thrush (not had it since before I was pregnant) and bought the canestan with the pill. It says on the back that you can't take it while breastfeeding.

Does anyone know whether it's safe to take while breastfeeding as I know they put that on the back of most medicines since obviously they don't test them on pregnant or breast feeding women.

I've used canestan pessaries (I assume this is what you mean by the pill?) during pregnancy and bfing, it's fine.

It's fine - in fact I was given it to treat thrush on my boobs!I had to wipe it off before each feed, but I certainly didn't have to scrub it off!

Thanks for the really quick responses. The pill is flucanozole. Is that ok to?

the one you buy over the counter is stronger than the one you would be prescribed. over counter is one 150?? prescribed you would get 5-10 of 50??.

i just took the over the counter one a few doays until i could get the other one. not had any problems.

i would say i was desperate for pain relief and did not want it to get worse as it would mean an end to bf.
