So baby is only a few days old and has only had formula since birth but I decided now I think I want to breast feed also i would like to combination feed, it’s not anything I’ve really looked into as I was set on purely bottle feeding throughout the pregnancy I’m just wondering for some tips about how to go about it as I have no clue , my beasts have started leaking so I think milks coming in. . What do I need to breast feed. I also want to pump abs store breast milk bottles so what’s the best products for that also how do you store it and how long for ect ?

Offer breast at every feed. To begin with, baby might just lick it only suck for a second. Give bottle after then try again next feed. Plenty of skin-to-skin and cuddles in between to encourage your milk flow. I did this with DS and by week 3 he was feeding well with only small formula too ups and by week 5 he was fully BF apart from one bottle from dad each day. He’s now week 12and still feeding well.

I wouldn’t personally advise expressing yet if you are BFing and offering formula too ups. It’s exhausting trying to do all three and can mess with your supply.

Also….Contact local la leche league for free advice and support- I’ve found them very useful! Or ask midwife/HV to refer you to a lactation consultant.
